Day 1-Istanbul to Cappadocia Tour/North

Pick up from your centrally located hotel in Istanbul and transfer to the airport to commence our 2-Day Cappadocia Tour from Istanbul. From this point, you will travel to Cappadocia independently using e-tickets provided by our team one or two days prior to your departure. You will check in and board the flight on your own. During the flight, you will be treated with complimentary food and drink onboard.

Upon landing at Cappadocia airport, our transfer operator will be waiting at the terminal exit with a sign bearing your name. Proceed to our office in Goreme, where you will meet the team to make the balance payment for the Cappadocia tour package. We will store your luggage at our office in Goreme, as hotel check-in will occur at the end of the day after the tour.

Your first impression of Cappadocia will likely feel otherworldly, as if you’ve landed on a different planet. We begin our guided day trip at the Goreme Panorama point to help you acclimate to the region. Our guide will provide a brief overview of the region’s history and geological formation process while you marvel at the surreal landscape. Next, we continue to Pashabag, located between Goreme Village and Zelve Valley. This valley is known for its conical limestone fairy chimneys. You may hear the term “fairy” frequently during your visit. It’s believed that these peculiar structures were once inhabited by creatures known as pixies (or Jinn in Islamic tradition) in ancient times. However, after the spread of Islam, these beings were said to be forbidden from living near human settlements. Pashabag is also called the Valley of the Monks, as monks once used the chimneys as hermitages to practice their religious beliefs. Though the monks abandoned the region long ago, locals used these caves as vineyard houses or storehouses until recent decades. Today, we visit these sites as open-air museums.

We then proceed to Devrent Valley, home to numerous rock formations with intriguing shapes that may resemble various objects or animals.

After this immersive historical exploration, we head to Avanos (ancient Vanessa), situated along the legendary Red River, reminding us we’re still on Earth! Enjoy lunch at a local cave restaurant, followed by a short walk across the suspension bridge over the Red River. We’ll visit a ceramic atelier to observe a demonstration of the 3,000-year-old traditional kick wheel technique, rooted in ancient Hittite culture.

Our final stop is the renowned Goreme Open Air Museum, Cappadocia’s most famous official museum, featuring several monasteries situated close together. The chapels’ walls are adorned with frescoes crafted by early Christian artisans. You’ll gain deeper insight into the daily lives of those who once inhabited these monasteries. The day concludes at our cave hotel, where you can experience modern, luxurious cave accommodations. Overnight in Cappadocia.

Note: Wondering where to dine and unwind? No worries—all hotels in our packages are located in the heart of Goreme. You’ll find numerous dining options, from Turkish to Chinese and even Indian cuisine. After resting at the hotel, a short five- to ten-minute walk will lead you to restaurants that cater to your taste buds.

Suggestion: Try not to linger too long in town, as you’ll need to rest early for the pre-dawn hot air balloon ride!

Day 2: South Cappadocia Tour / Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon

Two hours before sunrise, we’ll pick you up from your hotel and head to the balloon facility. While you’re still waking up, enjoy some snacks and your choice of a hot or cold drink. You might wonder if waking up this early is worth it, but just wait until you ascend in the balloon basket! Among approximately 100 balloons and thousands of travelers, our team will guide you to your designated balloon. Listen carefully to the pilot’s instructions as you find your spot and prepare your phone or camera. Enjoy the serene festival of floating balloons, punctuated by the sudden roar of the burners. After a one-hour ride, we’ll land in a suitable area and celebrate with a traditional ceremony, complete with commemorative certificates. Return to the hotel by shuttle, take a quick shower, enjoy breakfast, and review your photos while sipping coffee.

At around 10:00 AM, we’ll pick you up from your hotel to commence the second day of our Cappadocia tour package. We take you to one of the most fascinating and unique experiences: a place we can call a “groundscraper,” in contrast to the skyscrapers people live in today. During our tours, depending on the tourist density in the region, we usually visit either the Derinkuyu Underground City or the Kaymaklı Underground City. Are you ready to delve deep into the depths?

Let’s continue exploring this unique land from the ground, venturing further this time—into the underworld of Cappadocia. Are we traveling back to the time of the Hittites? Not quite, but we’ll delve deeper into the region’s wonders today. Our itinerary includes a mid-range hike through Rose Valley, concluding in Cavusin Village. The day ends on a hilltop, where we’ll bid farewell to this extraordinary landscape. Afterward, we’ll collect our luggage and prepare to head to our next destination.

Note: Our package includes round-trip domestic flights to/from Istanbul, but we can also arrange flights to/from Ankara, Antalya, or Izmir upon request.
